Bishop Darryl Shaw

Senior Pastor

Bishop Darryl Shaw is a retired Army veteran, business owner, pastor, and community leader who has faithfully served in ministry for decades. After giving his life to Christ at the age of 19, he answered the call to ministry and began pastoring in 1986.

Known for his humility, integrity, and accessibility, Bishop Shaw has dedicated his life to serving both the church and the community with compassion and steadfast leadership. His passion for restoration led him to found the Word of Life Substance Abuse Center, which served individuals and families through inpatient and outpatient treatment programs for many years and continues today as an outpatient center.

Lady Marlene Shaw

First Lady/Women’s Ministry Lead

Lady Marlene Shaw is a retired Army veteran, faith-based counselor, and women’s ministry leader with a passion for helping women become who God created them to be. She encourages women to live boldly, walk courageously, and serve with intentionality and grace.

Through her wisdom, strength, and unwavering faith, Lady Shaw inspires women to embrace their identity with confidence, speak with purpose, and remain steadfast in every season of life. Her life and leadership reflect the beauty of a woman walking faithfully in the calling God has placed upon her.

Elder Wayne Coles

Assistant Pastor

Elder Wayne Coles brings more than 30 years of faith, leadership, and life experience to ministry. Saved in Newport News, Virginia, he continues to inspire others with his testimony of deliverance and transformation to pursue freedom and purpose in Christ.

As a devoted husband, business owner, and faithful servant at The Rivers for more than a decade, Elder Coles is known for his compassion, steady leadership, and genuine heart for God’s people. His passion for prayer, encouragement, and spiritual growth has made him a trusted voice and a source of strength within the ministry.
